Separate knife attacks leave two dead, one injured in Metro Vancouver
VANCOUVER – Separate overnight stabbings in Metro Vancouver had left two people dead and sent a third to hospital.
The first incident occurred at about 1 a.m. in East Vancouver when a 17-year-old boy was attacked at the Ohukuya Japanese restaurant on Kingsway, near Slocan Street.
The critically injured teen died a short time later in hospital and members of the Vancouver Police major crimes section remained at the restaurant through the night, searching for clues.
The second stabbing also occurred at about 1 a.m. near Surrey’s Guildford neighbourhood (at 154 Street and 100 Avenue) when two people were rushed to hospital with serious injuries and one man could not be saved.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over that case.
Police have not identified any suspects in the Vancouver stabbing and are still trying to determine if the second incident began with a fight between the two victims, or if other attackers were involved. (CKNW, The Canadian Press)
