Publisher Simon & Schuster, superstore chain Barnes & Noble resolve book dispute

NEW YORK, N.Y. – A months-long dispute that had led to widespread reports superstore chain Barnes & Noble was cutting back on orders and promotion for publisher Simon & Schuster’s books has been resolved.

Barnes & Noble and Simon & Schuster had differed over undisclosed financial terms. They’ve issued a statement saying all “outstanding business issues” have been settled. Monday’s statement provides no details about the resolution.

Barnes & Noble Inc. has faced strong competition from Amazon.com in recent years and has struggled.

Simon & Schuster publishes such top sellers as Stephen King and Bob Woodward, although the fallout with Barnes & Noble was believed to have primarily affected lesser-known authors.
