Staff at Alberta long-term care home find mice nibbling dementia patient’s face

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – A dementia patient at a long-term care home in southern Alberta is recovering after a staff member found mice nibbling her face.

Friends of Medicare say it happened at St. Therese Villa in Lethbridge on Sept. 1.

Sandra Azocar (ASZ-OH-KAR) says it’s hard to believe and calls what happened — quote — ”horrifying.”

She says staff at the Convenant Health facility first complained about mice about a year ago.

Azocar says the woman who was bit in the face is recovering and is doing OK.

No one at Convenant Health could be reached for comment.
