British snooker player Stephen Lee appeals 12-year ban for fixing matches

SHEFFIELD, England – British snooker player Stephen Lee is appealing against his 12-year ban for match-fixing.

World Snooker says in a statement Wednesday it has been informed by Lee’s lawyers that the former fifth-ranked player “is appealing against the finding of the tribunal, the sanction and the costs awarded.”

The 38-year-old Lee, who won five events in his 21-year professional career, was found guilty last month of manipulating seven matches in 2008 and 2009. He said he is “totally innocent” of the charges.
