Pizza flour sets off hazardous materials scare in Kelowna, B.C., park

KELOWNA, B.C. – Extra cheese but hold the hazmat team, please.

A hazardous materials team in Kelowna, B.C., was called to a local park after large quantities of an unidentified white power was discovered Wednesday morning.

Platoon Capt. Kelly Stephens says both a hazmat and fire crew responded to the suspicious substance call.

Stephens says the team donned their level-B protection suits — covering them from head to toe —and entered the park with testing equipment.

Instead of a hazardous material, they discovered the white powder was the makings of pizza dough.

Apparently no extra cheese or anchovies were involved. (CKFR)
