Festivals Kelowna has been putting on free concerts across the months of July and August as part of Parks Alive! What originally started with only 2 parks downtown in 1997 has evolved into 18 different parks across Kelowna, but all good things must come to an end, as the event is wrapping up this year’s annual summer concerts with 2 live performances and a movie in the park screening of Shrek 2 (2004).

The final Parks Alive for this year is on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Mission Creek Regional Park. Starting off the evening at 6 pm is classic rock band Zamboni 2.0, followed by Prog Jazz and Funk band Tonight’s Forecast at 7:15 pm. Once bands have finished their performances, Shrek 2 will be put on a large projector screen for everyone to watch at 8:30 pm, which runs until 10 pm.

Guests are recommended to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and any snacks they wish to enjoy during the movie. This is an all-ages event, and dogs must remain on leashes in the park. The event does run relatively late into the evening, and mosquito repellent may be also suggested being close to a couple of ponds and the river in the area.

Festivals Kelowna is a non-profit society that produces arts-based, community-focused, outdoor events and programs in parks and public spaces throughout Kelowna. This year, Parks Alive has hosted over 70+ different performers across a wide range of local and out-of-town talent.
