PHOENIX (AP) — Noemie Brochart and Shay Ciezki scored 15 points each to lead six Phoenix players in double digits and the Mercury beat the Toronto Tempo 101-69 on Saturday night.
It was Phoenix’s second-highest win margin this season following a 99-66 season-opener win over the Las Vegas Aces.
Sami Whitcomb scored 14 points, reserves Marta Suarez and Maddy Westbeld scored 13 and 12 respectively, and Lexi Held had 11 for the Mercury (14-26) who ended their four-game losing streak.
Alyssa Thomas distributed 12 assists, the 11th game this season in which she’s dealt 10 or more assists.
Isabelle Harrison scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Kiki Rice scored 14 and Laura Juskaite 10 for the Tempo, who were coming off a 93-73 loss to Las Vegas on Friday.
The Tempo (11-29) remain without leading scorer Marina Mabrey (20.8 points per game) who is still recovering from an adductor injury and has missed the last six games.
Phoenix built a 21-8 lead and never trailed. The Mercury led 27-17 after the first quarter and expanded the lead to 58-35 at the break. A 30-point third quarter made it 88-49 at the end of three.
