The former employee at the centre of a far-right BC policital party’s fracturing is now being sued by its leader.

MLA Dallas Brodie filed a lawsuit in BC Supreme Court this week, claiming Othman Mekhloufi has repeatedly defamed her online since February.

Mekhloufi now works for Tara Armstrong, the independent Kelowna-Lake Country Coldstream MLA, and responded through her office.

“Self-proclaimed ‘free speech warrior’ Dallas Brodie is filing a lawsuit because she got called crazy? Sounds like insecurity to me,” he said in an emailed response to iNFOnews.ca.

Brodie leads the far-right party OneBC, where Mekhloufi previously worked before he was fired last December.

Since February 2026, Mekhloufi “engaged in a sustained campaign of online defamation against Brodie” through his X.com account, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit quoted Mekhloufi’s posts as claiming Brodie “assaulted” another MLA. There were numerous posts describing Brodie as dishonest, mentally ill and unintelligent.

She demanded he remove the posts and apologize in July, but Mekhloufi refused, according to the notice of claim.

Aside from social media posts, Brodie claims he also defamed her in January 2025 in conversations with other people. She said his comments have damaged her reputation and exposed her to “contempt, ridicule and hatred.”

He was fired because of posts online which espoused “neo-Nazi, white nationalist and anti-Semitic” content, according to Brodie’s Aug. 31 notice of claim.

It led to a rift in the still-new party and left Brodie as the sole OneBC MLA, while Armstrong went on to represent the Kelowna area as an independent. Both initially ran as BC Conservative Party candidates in 2024.

Mekhloufi has not responded in court, but in his initial emailed comment to iNFOnews.ca he claimed Brodie has “collaborated with ANTIFA to smear other conservatives as Nazis.”

He then said the comment was sent “in error” and sent another.

“Ms Brodie is spiralling, suing people for calling her crazy on the internet. I’m sympathetic to her situation and I hope she receives the help she needs,” Mekhloufi said in a follow-up email.

He initiated court proceedings against OneBC’s former executive director Paul Ratchford in which Mekhloufi claimed he was “maliciously terminated” from the party. It’s not clear if he’s pursuing a wrongful termination claim.

Brodie’s claims have not been proven in court.
