A’s starter J.T. Ginn placed on 15-day IL because of elbow problem

SEATTLE (AP) — The Athletics placed right-handed starter J.T. Ginn on the 15-day IL Saturday because of an elbow impingement in his pitching arm.

In a corresponding move, right-hander Jack Perkins was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Ginn last pitched Aug. 26. His next scheduled start was delayed due to fatigue/soreness.

Ginn (9-8), 27, has enjoyed a breakout campaign for the struggling A’s. Over 138 1/3 innings and 24 starts, he has a 3.71 ERA with 121 strikeouts and 57 walks. Twice he flirted with no- hitters, including losing one in the ninth to the Angels in May.
