There’ve been a few cool rainy days lately in the Okanagan and Kamloops but don’t give up on summer just quite yet.

Temperatures are expected to hit highs around 27 Celsius this weekend and into next week in the region, but it’s likely this will be your last chance to soak up some sunny weather before fall sets in.

“It’s starting to feel like summer again after a relatively near-normal start to September,” Environment Canada meteorologist Janelle Gergely told iNFOnews.ca.

“It looks to be fairly persistent through the weekend, even into early next week before we see a shift in the pattern and see a return to more fall-like conditions.”

Normal daytime high temperatures for this time of year are 21 C, so get out into the sunshine while it’s here.

Some rain in recent weeks broke the dry-spell that lasted most of the summer, but there isn’t much more coming in the foreseeable future.

“Even with the system coming next week, when we see that return to normal fall temperatures… there could be a chance of precipitation but we’re not seeing any low pressure systems to bring significant rainfall at this time,” Gergely said.

Kamloops is forecast to be a few degrees warmer than the Okanagan, but it’s sunshine all around until Wednesday, Sept. 23, when temperatures are supposed to dip to a high of 19 C to 21 C.

“It just looks really lovely, to be honest, enjoy the sunshine,” Gergely said.
