BALTIMORE (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays put right-hander Dylan Cease on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation, ending his 2026 season.

The move came between games of Wednesday’s doubleheader at Baltimore, after the Blue Jays dropped the opener and were eliminated from postseason contention. Cease went 11-6 with a 2.40 ERA this season, his first with Toronto.

Cease signed a $210 million, seven-year contract to join Toronto after he spent his first seven seasons with the Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres. He made 29 starts this year. The last one was Friday, when he walked six batters and was replaced in the third inning.
