DELAWARE, OHIO — It was a historic win for Redland Rocket Man and driver Jody Jamieson.

Jamieson, of Moffat, Ont., drove Redland Rocket Man, a US$45,000 supplemental entry, to a 4 1/4-length win in the Grade 1 $550,000 Little Brown Jug on Thursday at the Delaware County Fair. Redland Rocket Man, the 3-5 favourite, claimed the race for three-year-old male pacers in 1:49.4.

Redland Rocket Man became just the fourth Ontario-sired horse to win this race in its 81-year history. Earlier, Redland Rocket Man and Jamieson won their elimination race by 4 3/4 lengths in 1:50.2.

Jamieson won the Little Brown Jug for the second time. His first came in 2007 with Tell All.

Trainer John Pentland, who’s also a co-owner of Redland Rocket Man, became the 11th Canadian-based conditioner to win the Little Brown Jug.

Milillo, the pre-race favourite with driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr., was second. Fellow Rob Burke trainee and stablemate Al Papi, the other elimination winner, took third.

Redland Rocket Man earned $300,000 to push his career earnings to $677,020.
