KELOWNA – A Kelowna man has been forbidden by the Law Society from practicing law in B.C.

According to a press release, Kevin James Anderson has consented to an injunction prohibiting him from representing himself as a lawyer anywhere in the province. He is also prohibited from engaging in the practice of law, including drawing up corporate documents and giving legal advice.

Anderson, who was issued the injunction Feb. 13, 2015, is one of several people illegally offering legal services or misrepresenting themselves as lawyers who have been ordered, or signed an undertaking, not to practice law. Also included is Robert G.D. Gallard of Victoria and Boguslaw Bejm of Coquitlam.

The release does not say specifically why the injunctions were issued, but under the Legal Professional Act, the Society is responsible for licencing lawyers and taking action against those who put the public at risk by illegally offering legal services or misrepresenting themselves as lawyers.

The Law Society of British Columbia regulates the more than 11,000 practicing lawyers in the province.
