Halloween decorations usually come from a store, but Kamloops Art Party is giving people the chance to make their own spooky pieces from scratch.
The Spooky & Sculpted Slab Creations workshop will invite participants to spend an evening working with clay while creating a mini ceramic pumpkin lantern and a small table ghost.
The workshop takes place Wednesday, October 14, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Kamloops Art Party on Tranquille Road. It is designed as a hands-on evening where participants can slow down, get creative and leave with something they have made themselves.
Working with clay offers a different kind of Halloween activity. Instead of simply decorating a pumpkin or buying a decoration, participants will build their pieces by hand using slab-building techniques, making the evening more about creativity than perfection.
The workshop includes the supplies and professional artist instruction, so participants do not need to arrive with their own clay or equipment. The goal is to guide people through the process while still giving them room to add their own personality to their creations.
For beginners, the workshop offers a relaxed introduction to clay, while more experienced participants can use the Halloween theme to experiment with new ideas.

Kamloops Art Party describes itself as a creative hub where people of different ages and abilities can explore painting, pottery, sculpting and other forms of art while connecting through creative experiences. The workshop is part of a larger October lineup that includes pottery, ceramics, sculpting and other seasonal activities.
The Spooky & Sculpted – Slab Creations workshop costs $89 plus GST per person and includes the supplies and instruction.
For people looking for something a little different to do this Halloween season, the workshop offers an opportunity to trade the usual decorations for something handmade, with a pumpkin lantern and ghost to show for it at the end.
