A popular Vernon food tradition returns this weekend as the Vernon Japanese Cultural Society hosts its Fall Chow Mein & Bake Sale.
The event takes place Saturday, October 17, from 2 pm to 4:30 pm at the society’s hall at 4895 Bella Vista Road.

Unlike the organization’s spring chow mein sale, which runs by pre-order and regularly sells out, the fall event will be first-come, first-served.
A total of 450 chow mein orders will be available for purchase in person while quantities last, and organizers are encouraging people to arrive early.
The chow mein will be prepared fresh the morning of the sale and will be available for $15 per order.
Visitors can also pick up homemade baked goods or enjoy strawberry shortcake for $5, which includes a choice of tea, coffee, juice or a soft drink.
The event is cash only.
Beyond the food, the sale is also an opportunity to support the Vernon Japanese Cultural Society and its work preserving and sharing Japanese culture and heritage in the North Okanagan.

The society hosts cultural activities, educational opportunities and community events throughout the year, welcoming people from all backgrounds to learn more about Japanese traditions and connect with the local community.
The Fall Chow Mein & Bake Sale has become a popular gathering for longtime supporters and new visitors alike, bringing people together over homemade food while helping support the society’s ongoing programming.
The sale runs from 2 pm to 4:30 pm on Saturday, October 17, at 4895 Bella Vista Road in Vernon, while supplies last.
