A 42-year-old Sicamous woman died in Mara Lake yesterday while swimming with a friend.
Sicamous Mounties were called to a beach on Swansea Point on Mara Lake near Sicamous at around 10 p.m. yesterday, July 5, to help a swimmer who was in medical distress.
"(She) had been swimming with a friend when she went under the water and did not surface," reads an RCMP media release.
"The friend was able to locate the victim under the water and return her to shore. BC Ambulance and Eagle Valley rescue attended and performed CPR valiantly without success."
RCMP believes the death is not suspicious in nature and the BC Coroner Service is conducting an investigation into the sudden death.
There is no further information available at this time.
