Republican Tom Cotton won election Tuesday to the U.S. Senate representing Arkansas, defeating Democrat Hallie Shoffner. Cotton was first elected to the Senate in 2014 and is the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. He’s considered a possible presidential contender in 2028. The senator framed Shoffner, a sixth-generation farmer, as too far left for Arkansas. The Associated Press declared Cotton the winner at 10:40 p.m. EST.
