RCMP have a 20-year-old man in custody facing a host of charges in connection to an incident about a month ago in the city.
Back on June 11, officers were called about a suspicious vehicle in the 1600 block of Leaside Avenue in Kelowna where they found a white sedan trying to jump start another vehicle, according to an RCMP media release.
The driver gave officers a fake driver’s licence.
He started up the vehicle, backed into a police car and took off, hitting a parked car and other arriving police vehicles.
RCMP say no officers were hurt.
Investigators identified the suspect as a person well known to police and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police arrested the suspect just before 2 p.m., July 7, in the 1900 block of Spall Avenue in Kelowna.
“Following his arrest, a search of the man located quantities of suspected fentanyl, suspected fraudulent identification and multiple weapons including a prohibited weapon,” Kelowna RCMP Sgt. Desmond Kiehlbauch said in the release.
“The man was also allegedly in breach of various orders previously imposed on him by the courts.”
Orin David Lucas, 20, is facing eight charges including assaulting a police officer and drug trafficking along with a weapons offence.
Lucas remains in custody awaiting a court date.
