One man is facing a multiple charges after lighting dumpsters on fire in Summerland.
Summerland Fire Department responded to several garbage can and dumpster fires on July 29, around 2:30 a.m., all of them started within minutes of each other, according to a Summerland RCMP media release.
A dumpster was lit on fire along Wharton Street, along with two garbage cans at the local skate park and one near the public pool.
Witnesses told police they had seen a man walking away from the fires carrying a gas can.
Officers then arrested a 55-year-old man who was walking along Prairie Valley Road. He is now facing multiple charges related to arson, but the investigation is ongoing, according to Summerland RCMP.
