BIG WHITE – Not the best weather to camp out on a roof at a ski resort, but the snow won’t put a chill on the Big White Fire Department’s passion for their cause.
The men and women who rush into burning buildings to save lives, are raising money for the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
The third annual Rooftop Camp Out has the firefighters braving the conditions for two nights of camping on top of the Kids’ Centre in the Big White Village Centre.
To keep warm during the day, they are selling hot dogs and hamburgers, hot chocolate and coffee. The fire crew is also putting on demonstrations and holding snowball throwing and tug-of-war competitions.
The fundraising event wraps up Sunday.
“This year's proceeds are going to the Canadian Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation to support families in need,” Big White fire chief Jamie Svendsen says. “Please stop by and say hello.”
