Kamloops stabbing sends man to hospital; suspect in custody
A Kamloops man reportedly entered the emergency room at Royal Inland Hospital with a stab wound yesterday.
Officers were called to the hospital at around 3:36 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 6, and conducted an investigation, according to an RCMP media release.
Police were able to identify a potential suspect and crime scene at an address on Brandon Avenue, where they arrested a Kamloops man who remains in custody.
“Thanks to the collaboration of frontline officers and other available RCMP resources, police were able to make a quick arrest in this serious incident and promptly move forward the investigation,” Kamloops RCMP Insp. Jeff Pelley said in the release.
The wounded man remains in hospital in stable condition while a police presence is still at the crime scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
The parties were reportedly known to each other and the general public is not believed to be at risk, RCMP said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information related to the investigation including surveillance, dash cam or cellphone video, is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2021-35312.
