TRENDING NOW: Massive volcano in Japan erupts

Mount Aso in Japan erupted Wednesday in spectacular fashion sending a huge column of grey smoke over three kilometres into the sky. The explosion sent volcanic rocks flying 900 metres from the crater.

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a warning to hikers and people living in the area.

There are no reports of injuries or deaths, but the volcano has had deadly eruptions in the past. In 1953, an eruption killed six people and one in 1958 killed 12.
