Cows roam through Kelowna golf course

It’s the last day of the season for the Mission Creek Golf Club and this morning staff were greeted by a few unexpected patrons.

Owner Debbie Welder, of the course located on Kelowna’s K.L.O. Road, said six long-horn cattle were seen by her son wandering around the golf course at around 8:30 a.m., Nov. 14.

After talking to the RCMP, she said the owners are located a fair distance away on K.L.O. Road by Mountainview Village but they’ve had no luck in reaching them.

“The RCMP can’t really much about it unless they get on K.L.O Road and cause a traffic disturbance,” Welder said.

They appear to be quite friendly, and her son pet one. Earlier this morning, they decided to lay down on the second greenway.

“They haven’t caused too much disturbance,” she said, adding the cows haven’t inhibited the golfers from playing.

“They’re watching the golfers going by,” she said.

“We’ve seen moose and deer and coyotes and every kind of creature but never long-horn cows before.”
