TRENDING NOW: Trail cams capture natural behavior of Sun Peaks wildlife
A wildlife enthusiast is showcasing the animals of Sun Peaks using trail cams.
In the last month, Jay Akerley said he’s captured deer, rabbits, coyotes and even a pine martin on film.
His academic background is in geography and he has an interest in remote sensing and interest of the natural world, he said.
He used two cameras on the lower slopes of Morrissey to capture the shots and has been capturing wildlife using trail cams for the last five years, with cameras set up at Sun Peaks since last summer.
One of the favourites videos he’s captured is footage of bobcats and a pine martin.
“I’ve had foxes on there as well and black bears and a lot of interesting birds,” he said.
The footage was well-received when he posted in a Sun Peaks Facebook group, Jan. 30 where it gathered more than 130 reactions.
