UPDATE: McLure Restaurant burns to the ground

KAMLOOPS – The investigation into the cause of a fire which left the McLure Restaurant smoking rubble continues.

Fire broke out Saturday, April 4, around 9 p.m. and with volunteers with the McLure Fire Department arrived, the restaurant was fully engulfed in flames.

The restaurant and an adjacent home were both destroyed in the fire and firefighters from nearby Barriere were called in to help, according to media reports.

Jessica Reiter lives nearby what’s left of the Yellowhead landmark and even worked there about eight years ago.

She and her husband snapped pictures and took video as the fire raged.

Reiter says new management had taken over the restaurant in the last year and says they had really turned it around.

“They were all about the community, customer service and awesome food,” she says.

Reiter says from the comments she’s seen on Facebook people seem really upset it’s gone, “comments from people all over B.C. that have passed through or lived in the area at some point.”
