Live music competition to rock Kelowna

KELOWNA – A local music competition hopes to highlight just how hard the Okanagan can rock.

Okanagan Rocks is an all-categories music competition that is open to solo acts, duos and bands. Six acts will play their original music for the audience and judges, with the winning act getting recording time at Big Audio Productions.

The event is hosted by Mike Schell, a promoter and booking agent with Schell Schock Entertainment Agency. He calls Okanagan Rocks an opportunity for up and coming bands and musicians to show their passion and get valuable feedback from industry insiders.

“All the performers will get a quick adjudication after but it’s all really positive,” he says. “We will talk about what they do well, what they could work on and just focus on building up their confidence.”

The competition is open to the public and starts Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. at Fleetwood Public House.

Schell is also one of the three judges, along with Bob Gablehouse and Steve Soucy.
