BETHPAGE, N.Y. – The King of Queens is setting up shop on Long Island.
Kevin James’ new sitcom for CBS, “Kevin Can Wait,” will be shot entirely at Bethpage’s Gold Coast Studios.
Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1YrV5V6 ) says the show will be the first network prime-time series to originate from a Long Island-based facility. The studios are on the property of a former defence contractor that built the lunar module that first landed men on the moon in 1969.
James, who starred in “The King of Queens” on CBS from 1998 to 2007, is a native Long Islander, raised in Stony Brook.
The series cast also includes local standup comics Joey Kola and Chris Roach.
The nearby Grumman Studios has played host to several televised Broadway productions, including “The Wiz Live” last November.
