The Effie Arts Collective is excited to announce Musical Acts Mickey O’Brien, Dubgee, and Junk, presented by 6 Cell, over the course of two nights.Friday, March 17 2023:“Mickey O’Brien’s experience as a miner and labour advocate informs his verses and desire to rock over heavy boom bap beats. As the title of his latest album “Shift Change” suggests, party goers quickly pick up the vibe and shed the weight of the week – It’s time to get buckwild and let loose.“A band nerd at heart, Dubgee brings a live production vibe – rapping over his beatbox loops and slaying the melodies with his Keytar. Yes – his Keytar. With influences ranging from classic rock and 90’s rap, expect to be entertained by call and response hooks and heavy lead solo’s. Lasers coming soon.”Saturday March 18 2023:“Junk is a Canadian/German/Italian rapper, born in Germany, living and repping Canada.“Yes, his name is Junk but he ain’t no garbage clown rapper. This man has been surrounded by music from before the cradle. Knowing him means he is rapping to his dying day in a hail of rapid-fire lyrics. His mother followed the emerging punk scene to the streets of London. ‘Round the same time, his old man landed on the scene too. At the time dude was an Italian musician on the verge of massive success with his Italian new age punk band Prozac+. Luck, the universe or whatever the fuck you wanna call it made a pit stop and birthed Junk. Soon after squatting in a derelict house in full punk fashion the pair hooked up and conceived Junk. Now the music industry is taking notice of the filthy, lyrically inclined rapper.”The Effie Arts Collective is a revived live performance arts venue on the North Shore that offers an intimate setting with great sound to capture a memorable live experience.
