We are the change that we seek.This past year has laid bare the racial inequities that permeate every aspect of American society. The protests and backlash in response to the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor forced a reckoning on America’s treatment of the Black community. In response to those events, BLCK VC hosted the “We Won’t Wait” Event on June 4th, 2020. The “We Won’t Wait” Event was a turning point for our movement, it catalyzed an intense period of growth for the Black investor community.Today, our community continues to lead the charge in making venture capital more inclusive for people of color. We celebrate the progress that has been made in the past year, but also recognize that much work needs to be done. Progress will not stop here.For the “Be the Change” event, we are reflecting on this past year: what has changed, what progress has been made, and what we need to do to build a more equitable tomorrow. This event will discuss our shared responsibility and opportunity to work toward racial equity and align on what is needed to create systemic change.As a part of this event, we will be hosting a fundraiser for organizations fighting for racial equity in tech, as well as our broader society.More information on this event will be shared in the coming days.
