Birthday Present to Myself | Spotlight Theatre Series

The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre Society proudly presents ICHIGO-ICHIEH’s production of Birthday Present for Myself, on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 starting at 7:30pm. Birthday Present for Myself is the final show in our 2019/20 SPOTLIGHT Theatre Series. Accomplished dancer-choreographer-actor Hiromoto Ida skillfully merges dance, theatre, classical music and voice to tell the story of the old man, raising a glass of sake to himself in celebration on what will be his last birthday. Reminiscing about the richness of his life experience, he is visited by the spirit of his wife, soprano Allison Girvan. “The story is very simple,” says Ida. “It is about an old man, 84 years old, and the last five minutes of this life.
