<p>George Brown College’s Blockchain Development students will be presenting original Capstone projects for a variety of business use cases for blockchain. Come and preview the next wave of blockchain developers, architects, and entrepreneurs!With the guidance of various industry leaders, George Brown College created and launched the first Blockchain Development certificate program to be offered by a Canadian Post-Secondary institution back in 2018. We are three years and six cohorts in now and what an adventure it’s been. Our curriculum design is geared towards creating Full Stack blockchain professionals who are prepared for roles such as Blockchain Developer, Blockchain Consultant, Blockchain Solutions Architect, and Front End/Back End/Full Stack Developer, and includes a well-rounded format that covers:• Full Stack Development – HTML5, CSS3, Node.js, JavaScript, ReactJS, and Firebase• Introduction to Blockchain – an overview of the technology & architecture of decentralised systems• Laws & Regulations – an overview of the evolving regulatory space, ICO’s, IEO’s, and case studies, and how to write a whitepaper well• Introduction to Smart Contracts – an intro to Ethereum smart contracts using the Solidity programming language• Industry Applications – a study of blockchain use cases, and a series of current and relevant industry guest speakers – with networking opportunities• Introduction to Blockchain Security Practices – a focus on some of the vulnerabilities and security considerations when developing for decentralised systems• Agile Software Development Methodologies – an introduction to Agile & Scrum methodologies, as well as the DevOps pipeline including test-driven development, version-control systems, and Cl/CD• Smart Contract Essentials – a deeper dive into the Solidity programming language and commonly used frameworks and tooling• Design Patterns for Blockchain – a deeper dive into the architecture and design of decentralised applications• dApp I – an introduction to developing decentralised applications using Hyperledger Fabric and the JavaScript SDK• Advanced Smart Contacts – a introduction to more advanced development environments and tooling• dApp ll – students are taught how to pitch and present well, how to tailor their material to their audience whether it be a technical or business presentation, or an investors pitch, while also working on a Capstone project that they will be demoing at their end-of-term showcase in just a few short weeksThe third semester consists of a mandatory work term with the choice of an Experiential Learning internship, or a classroom-based Work-integrated Research Project. We have also partnered with ICTC to offer wage subsidies for qualifying students and employers.This is your chance to meet each of the students and determine which ones would be a good fit for your project or organization.
