The contrast in vulnerability you see in the image above, the vulnerability of the natural human state and surrounding ecosystem vs. the pronounced impact of humankind’s waste, is a creative effort to capture the depth of our pollution plight. “The state of our natural environment is a physical reflection of the state of our collective human consciousness.” Our outer world reflecting our inner world. ?Read on for a community call to action? Kitty, of @kittysdogwalkingservice, discovered this illegal dump site while walking a group of local dogs along the Osoyoos Canal walkway; the depth of this pollution was too much to ignore, as it would be for anyone, so she reached out to Down To Earth Living knowing that by connecting with others who care deeply about the environment, action would be taken to reclaim this green space on behalf of Mother Nature. That is the essence of a caring community—coming together to do what is right for the wellbeing of the collective. Call to Action Monday March 16th at 3:30 pm we will gather back here at the Osoyoos Canal Walkway to finish cleaning up this illegal dump site. We were able to take out 3 large bags of garbage, but the site still looks untouched, so we are calling on our community members to attend with us and share in the deeply fulfilling work of healing our beautiful landscape. When: Monday March 16th @ 3:30pm Where: Osoyoos Canal Walk Way (a google maps pin will be shared in the clean up event facebook page.) Meet up and parking will take place at the Osoyoos Visitor Centre parking lot– parking is a quick 10 minute walk up the trail to the dumpster. What you need to bring: Gloves; garbage bags; shoes and clothing that can get dirty; and your beautifully open mind and heart to participate in some eco-mindfulness conversations. If you recognize a sense within yourself longing to leave an impact on this Earth and in your community, one of the most influential responsibilities you can take on is being of service to our shared habitat. Cleaning the environment. Taking inventory of the waste you contribute, singularly, and then consciously choosing to alter your way of living in order to leave less behind. As well as taking it upon oneself to find fulfillment in restoring our green spaces when they are polluted by the unfortunate actions of those who remain to be disconnected from their extended body- the Earth. Thank you for taking the time to contemplate your impact on the environment and we look forward to connecting with our eco-mindful community very soon! Additional garbage pick-up encouragement: *Take a walk in your neighborhood on garbage day to clean up the bits of trash that the wind blows through the streets when the dogs and racoons knock the garbage cans over for a tasty treat. Not only will it feel great to be outside and doing something good for nature, you will also encounter new conversation with neighbors who appreciate your service!
