Cops for Kids Jail & Bail Event

Cops for Kids Jail & Bail Event
The police are targeting some law-abiding citizens next week to help raise money for local kids. Be warned, because they are looking to cuff and book some of Penticton’s prominent citizens to be locked up for a good time, while helping out local kids in crisis.
The Cops for Kids Jail & Bail event takes place Wednesday, where off-duty RCMP members will be arresting Penticton’s best and bringing them before the judge at Cherry Lane Shopping Centre. They’ll then be sentenced to a brief incarceration where they’ll have to raise bail in the form of donations for Cops for Kids in order to be released.
This will be the first year for the event in Penticton, although the organization has run the fundraiser in other communities that they serve across South Eastern BC. “Families turn to Cops for Kids when there’s nowhere else to turn and so we’ve got to work even harder to be able to assist these families when they need it most,” explains event organizer and Cops for Kids team member Cst. Liz Vant Erve, from the Penticton RCMP. “Our requests for financial assistance have grown exponentially, and so we rely on the success of our events to provide that assistance for a child in crisis.”
Cops for Kids Charitable Foundation is a group of dedicated RCMP members and friends, committed to raising funds for children in medical, physical or traumatic crisis within south eastern British Columbia. They work tirelessly to raise funds throughout the year to support ongoing requests from local families.
There’s still time to nominate a friend, a loved one, a co-worker, or even to take part in the event yourself. For more information please visit www.copsforkids.org or call 250-801-4438 to arrange an arrest.
