Enjoy a special pre-release reading of ‘A Tree Just Like Me’ in a beautiful forest setting.
My name is Sarah Elliman and I am a counsellor, outdoor recreation instructor and author based in Vernon, BC. You might know me from the school ski program at Sovereign Lake Nordic Club or leading canoe trips for school groups with Elements Adventure Company. I love the outdoors which is why this event is being hosted in one of my favorite, family-friendly forest locations in the Vernon area.
For this special event, we will meet at the entrance to the Upper BX Falls Trail on Tillicum road in Vernon. From there I will guide the group on a short forest wander, ending at the perfect picnic spot where I’ll read ‘A Tree Just Like Me’ and lead a brief lesson on the connections between fungi and trees which includes an activity sheet.
This event is appropriate for all ages.
After, you are encouraged to stay for a picnic lunch and Q&A.
*There is no cell service at the trail head.
*There are no washrooms on site.
*The event will be approximately 1 hour long with 30 minutes of instruction including the reading.
*The walk will be approximately 3-5minutes.
