To clog dance in the 21st Century you don’t wear wooden shoes & it isn’t tap dancing. It’s so much better and great fun! At this free public Intro to Clogging you’ll discover the many physical, mental & social benefits of the dance form. Once you learn, it presents opportunities for travel. Try it! The clog dance involves rhythmic tapping, largely flat-footed, to the beat of a wide variety of music. Once you learn, that tapping is enhanced with double stainless steel taps (called “Jingle Taps”) mounted on the underside of your shoe at the toe and heel. Discover Contemporary Precision Clog Dancing for free at 1 pm Saturday June 8 in the Westbank Lions Community Centre. On a drop-in basis, the 1-hour session is open to all ages of the public 8+ and only requires comfortable casual attire and flat, smooth soled, low-heel shoes. No partner is needed. Suggested arrival time for the free session: 12:45 pm. The presenter is the non-profit Okanagan Cloggin’ dance club of the Central Okanagan. Should weekly sessions in September be of interest, there’s a choice of 3 different days at different times at 2 different venues. Info: okanagancloggin@hotmail.com.
