Tanya Vadurova-Bakala, owner of Mission Dance Centre & Co. and two-time winner of the OkanaganArts Award creates a local company of dancers of all ages with a myriad of performances in varyingstyles of ballet, flamenco and modern, plus artistic, and cultural events including ethnic andindigenous expressions. Tanya was trained at the National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto anddanced professionally across Europe and Canada before settling in Kelowna in 2001.The mission of all performances presented by The Mission Dance Company is to inspire and excitethe audiences.
Artist’s Passion is a dance performance featuring accomplished and emerging local dance artistsplus an exhibit of local indigenous artists. We are excited to announce that Kealan McLaughlin,accomplished and internationally renowned principal male dancer, will join Mission Dance Companyagain and back by popular demand. This is a “must see” special performance in which audiences willbe treated to traditional classical ballet, neo-classical and flamenco styles of dance works. Thismixed program of breath taking, exciting, and moving choreography and music will present GIselle,Missa Brevis, Swan Lake excepts, and the premiere of Tanya Vadurova’s flamenco styled ballet called“Layers of Affinity”.
Come and be entertained by this stunning mix of ballet, modern, flamenco, and other special guestartists featuring indigenous art works. A great highlight of the performance is the emotionallysoothing music of a celebrated local artist, composer, Imant Raminsh, with the maturity of theartistic dancing of the cast who embody this grand piece of music work, Missa Brevis.Also, featuring local female dance artists including our very own Annette Bakala, winner of the CivicAward for Best Teen in the Arts, plus Olivia Latendresse and Abby Hoek. Another amazing ocal theenthralling music of our very own local composer Imant Raminsh, choreographed by TanyaVadurova, a moving and visually stunning, Missa Brevis, excerpts from the classical Ballet, Giselle,and the company’s newest work “Layers of Affinity” which brings the flare of flamenco and ballettogether to ignite the heart of our community.
