I Must Be Streaming – Exhibition at the Kelowna Art Gallery
In this exhibition “I Must Be Streaming”, Jorden Doody investigates how contemporary culture responds to notions of the body in a digital age where illusion, escape, and distraction are at the forefront of our collective consciousness. Our expanded communities are continually being challenged through the exponential growth and impact of digital technology and social media. By utilizing new media technologies in combination with traditional modes of craft, Doody’s installations blur the boundaries between the real and the virtual, the tactile and the imaginary. For example, in Virtually Empty, comprised of three components—an image of an empty window screen, a digitized needlepoint clown, and a plain white ironing board—a surreal space is created that carries the viewer back and forth across the object/image divide.Jorden Doody is an interdisciplinary artist who examines the transitional spaces between tangible material and digital media. She is based in Kelowna and is currently pursuing an MFA at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. This exhibit runs until Nov 1 2020.
