International Women’s Day Celebration

Please join the SAFE Society to celebrate International Women’s Day (a little early this year) on Thursday, March 5th at the Shuswap Pie Company. This annual coffeehouse-style event is intended to create a space for our community to commemorate the history of International Women’s Day, celebrate women’s achievements, and call for further action to advance gender equality.International Women’s Day is recognized by the United Nations and the Government of Canada and brings together women from around the world to commemorate over 100 years of women’s achievements. On International Women’s Day, we join together to celebrate the courage and strength of women throughout the world. We also take a moment to contemplate and discuss change. The 2020 theme is Each for Equal: an equal world is an enabled world. How will you help forge a gender equal world? Celebrate women’s achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality. #EachForEqualBring a friend or loved one and celebrate with us. There will be music, guest speakers, interactive displays, and information. The kitchen at Shuswap Pie Company will open for food and beverage sales throughout the event.
