If you’ve ever been interested in starting to use rewards based training for your horse, this clinic will serve as a great intro on how to use it, highlighting the benefits of it and how it can help horses overcome fear, anxiety and other behavioural issues while creating highly motivated athletes who enjoy the time spent with their handlers.
The clinic covers important information regarding horse behaviour and how they think and learn. Learning about the differences between the equine brain and our brains as humans is crucial to helping our horses in times of anxiety and setting up fair training plans. Learn how to use rewards based methods and how to avoid common errors of misapplication of food rewards, such as pushiness, frustration or concerns with biting, in addition to how to utilize behavioural science principles to make the most of your training and gain the tools to problem solve and create efficient and successful training programs for yourself and your horse.
These are just some of the things that can be massively benefitted by use of rewards based training:
Trailer loading
Managing anxiety on and off property
Teaching horses to tie
Increasing motivation under saddle
Starting horses under saddle
Overcoming trauma
Food aggression
Desensitization
And much, much more. This clinic is open to all types of horses and riders. If there are specific issues you are hoping to work on, please email shelby@milestoneequestrian.ca for more info.
Note: if you want to work on trailer loading issues, you will need to bring your own trailer.
IAABC certified equine behaviour consultant, Shelby Dennis from Milestone Equestrian has worked with all types of horses, everything from racehorses to show jumpers to wild mustangs, and takes a scientific approach with rewards based training, helping to create emotionally balanced and motivated horses who enjoy training. Shelby has decades of experience with horses and operates on LIMA (least intrusive, minimally aversive) principles, helping to ensure horses the most stress free training possible.
