This workshop is for anyone interested in the basics of beekeeping and/ or becoming a beekeeper. Topics include:1) The hive set up, equipment, tools, protective equipment, supplemental feeding, medications, costs to get started and maintain your colony.2) First season timeline, the order of beekeeping duties and how the colony works from May-November (installing nucs, swarm control, supering, honey harvest, winter prep, overwintering)3) First season best practices and available beekeeping support resources.4) How to get started this year, or what to plan for next year.This workshop leads into a two day Beginner Beekeeping Course (classroom theory) and (bee yard/ apiary field day).
