Join us every third Saturday for our Kids Action and Arts Space (KAAS) and Youth Action and Arts Space (YAAS).KAAS offer children aged 6-9 and YAAS offer aged 10-14 a fun and affirming space to connect and meet friends and new peers.The 519 is collaborating with community artists and educators to facilitate arts and movement-based activities for two-spirit, queer, trans, and non-binary kids, and youth as well as the kids and youth of queer and trans families.Join Eish Van Wieren in-person [The 519] on November 20th for an introduction to theatrical mask making and performance! Build a half mask from recyclable materials and use it to begin creating a fictional character. This workshop will equip participants with tools for performance creation and writing on their feet to tell the stories that are important to them.Eish Van Wieren is a genderfluid trans-nonbinary transdisciplinary artist currently based in Tkaranto/Toronto and originally from Mohkinstsis/Calgary. They are a theatre practitioner, visual artist, mask maker, performer, musician, designer and educator who also works in film and TV. They attempt to create work that “splats” onto the stage, page, or screen and aim to queer their theatrical and educational practices in an anti-oppressive way.
