OHS Vernon Branch AGM

OHS Vernon Branch AGM
The Okanagan Historical Society (OHS) Vernon Branch invites members and the public to its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the historic Mackie Lake House, located at 7804 Kidston Rd.
This year, the AGM will highlight the renewed collaboration between the OHS Vernon Branch and the Museum & Archives of Vernon, a collaboration that has culminated in exciting joint initiatives, such as the Hometown Histories Speaker Series and a 2025 Historic Calendar. These programs bring engaging historical narratives to the public, preserving and celebrating Vernon’s unique heritage.
This year’s AGM will also feature a special presentation by Devon Muhlert, Vernon Branch editor and local historian, who will perform a captivating dramalogue as Catherine Schubert (1835–1918). Schubert, the only woman among the Overlanders of 1862, journeyed with her family from Fort Garry (now Winnipeg) to British Columbia during the Cariboo Gold Rush, ultimately settling in the North Okanagan. Muhlert’s portrayal will delve into Schubert’s remarkable journey and legacy, including the historic home of Schubert’s son Augustus II, which was relocated to O’Keefe Ranch in 1989.
All are welcome to attend this community gathering.
