Peer Art Critique

Come and join us for a casual evening of wine, light snacks, and a peer art critique. This event is part of our “Gathering of Artists” series that takes place on the first Friday of each month.Critique, in many ways, is crucial for artistic development. In this session we encourage artists to bring in work for a group critique. Bring along a piece of artwork that you may be struggling with or that you would appreciate some feedback on. Or just come along and learn from the journey of other artists.The group will provide positive feedback and support and be the second (or third) “set of eyes” on the work. Artists can ask for feedback on how the work can be improved, and in that process will develop an understanding of how the work is perceived by others. During the discussion, artists are encouraged to talk openly and freely about the origin and technical aspects of the work presented and about their personal views and aims.Peer critique should be specific and constructive and support artistic growth. It is important for us to experience critiques of our own work, but it’s also important to critique the work of others. When we critique the work of others, we not only offer helpful suggestions but we also learn to find things that can be applied to our own work.
