ARTIST RECEPTION: Friday October 25, 4 – 7 pm.An art exhibition, mostly water….. among other things. Acrylic on canvas.Originally from the West Kootenays Leah has always been an artist. Art being a favorite subject throughout all her school years cultivated by inspiring teachers.Morphing art into a possible career she studied graphic design and electronic publishing from Selkirk College’s Graphic Communications program. This trajectory sent her in the direction of freelancing as a graphic artist, as well as creating fine art whenever possible.Leah is passionate about the art community and enjoys creating opportunities for artists through the KAC Galleries. “There is nothing more inspiring for an artist than to see their collection of work professionally displayed in their own exhibition.” Leah is an entrepreneur, volunteer and artist who takes great pleasure in painting, drawing and sharing her work with others.”For this exhibition I noticed most of my work is fairly serene and it looks like I like to paint lakes and oceans – water seems to be a theme here. I find it soothing and relaxing much like a yoga class or a long walk in the forest. I hope it brings peace to everyone who gets to enjoy the show – like being at the lake in summer.”This is my first solo exhibition. After working at the Kamloops Arts Council for three years helping members curate their own shows I thought it was time to take the plunge. I really would like to say thank you to all those artists who have exhibited with us for the inspiration they provided me in putting together my very own show! Thank You!!! ~LeahFor more information visit – http://kamloopsarts.ca/event-calendar/#id=244&cid=914&wid=601
