Science Lab: Make a Mug Cake!

<p>Sparks, Brownies and friends are invited to join the BC Program Adviser, Carissa and BC Council member, Eliesse for a fun session all about cake! We will begin by reading a story about the science of baking cakes. Then, we will have the opportunity to make our own cake in a mug!Ingredients you will need:6 tbsp flour4 tbsp sugar1 tbsp cocoa powder¼ tsp baking soda1/8 tsp salt1 ½ tbsp vegetable oil¾ tsp white vinegar½ tsp vanilla4 tbsp waterOptional: Add 1 tbsp of your favourite jam, caramel or hazelnut spread, or chocolate chipsPlease feel free to modify the ingredients for special diets.Equipment you will need:A microwave-safe mugMeasuring spoonsA spoon, spatula or whisk (to mix with)Paper towel or a dish clothA toothpick or skewerOptional: An extra bowlOptional: Cooking sprayPlease make sure that an adult in your household is nearby to help with making the mug cake.This activity is also available on the Girls First platform, called Marvelous Microwave Mug Cakes.</p>
