Join us for a community screening of the short film IT’S NOTHING (2019), a film that writer Julia Lederer describes as an “excavation” of her experience with an eating disorder. Following the screening, join writer Julia Lederer, director Anna Maguire, and expressive arts group facilitator Veronika Davy for a live Zoom roundtable discussion on the creative journey from script to screen; filmmaking as an act of collaborative expression and connection; and the importance of increasing diversity in representations of eating disorders.Synopsis: A recent graduate is urged by an impossibly perfect woman to start digging a hole in a nearby park, setting in motion a chain of events that threaten her emotional balance and carefully maintained routines. (TIFF)Content/Trigger Warning: This film explores eating disorders through metaphor, including depictions of emotional abuse in the context of an interpersonal relationship and scenes of physical violence. Active listening support will be available for attendees during the event. Please note, this is a public event and not a therapeutic group. Attendees are welcome to eat dinner during this event.Additional Reading: https://www.shedoesthecity.com/tiff19-its-nothing-excavates-my-experience-with-an-eating-disorderPresented with TIFF Community Impact.FAQsWho is this event for? This event is open to anyone interested in attending. What platform are you using? This event will be offered via Zoom for Healthcare. How do I join the event?Create an account at zoom.us, then download Zoom onto your computer, tablet, or phone.
