Gemma Black presents a highly polished and entertaining look at Ireland’s national treasure, The Book of Kells. Gemma presented this lecture originally to the National Gallery of Australia on the occasion of the visit of The Book of Kells to Australia in 2000. The lecture covers the background of The Book of Kells as well as its calligraphy, illumination, pigments and tools. Gemma had worked in conjunction with Susie Bioletti, head of conservation at the National Gallery on the research for the lecture on this magnificent book.This on-line Zoom lecture is FREE and will be recorded.
