Embark on a journey of self-discovery and creative expression with Evan Matchett-Wong, as they guide you through an empowering two-day embroidery/textile workshop on Nov 24th and 25th.
Evan Matchett-Wong is a Two-Spirit textile artist hailing from Treaty 6 Territory, with a strong focus on intersectional artistic practices, reflecting their mixed Chinese-Dene heritage and queerness. They will use Indigenous practices to facilitate conversation and ideas and create an open and safe space for participants. This embroidery/textile-based workshop will give the opportunity for participants to explore not only their unique identities and talk about their experiences of oppression but also give them the time to heal and celebrate their heritage.
The workshop takes place November 24, 2023 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm and on November 25, 2023 from 10:00am – 5:00pm (Note: Saturday will be flexible, and end of day will be based on the completion of individual projects. Facilitator will be available until ~5pm). For more information or to register, please contact amy.timleck@vdicss.org.
