UBC Okanagan Science of Wine Public Session

Join UBC Chemistry and Biology professors and learn about the science of wine during a free public session on Aug. 17.Chemistry professors Wesley Zandberg and Susan Murch and Biology professor Daniel Durall will provide an overview of their research projects during the public session including: ways to predict smoke taint and prevent it before fermentation, the yeast associated with Pinot Noir grapes, and the chemistry and terroir of Okanagan wines.The open session is held in conjunction with the BC Pinot Noir Celebration, a one-day event, which is also holding educational sessions led by wine industry professionals, a salon-style wine tasting, dinner, dance and address from keynote speaker Madeline Puckette, author of Wine Folly: The Essential Guide to Wine.To register for UBC’s free session, held in The Commons Room 201, and to find out more information on the BC Pinot Noir Celebration please visit http://www.bcpinotnoir.ca/
