Art instructor: JENNIFER WEIBE will be taking you through a process of making new candles from your old candles. This workshop is suitable for ages 14 and up.About Jennifer:Jennifer is a local mom of two that loves to create things in her spare time. Whether it’s knitting, sewing, candle making or any other creative endeavor, she finds that creating something brings joy and decreases anxieties of the day. She enjoys thrifting craft supplies and using as many recycled materials as possible in what she makes. Jennifer and her family attend Westside Church and miss attending in person!Jennifer looks forward to meeting you on zoom and crafting with you!Materials needed:2-4 popsicle sticks (you will need as many as wicks needed for a regular candle – for my 8 inch wide candle I am using 4 popsicle sticks)Small tray or containerOlive oilSteak knife and cutting board or very sharp scissorsTongsHot glue gun + glueOld candle wax / candles or wax (I just use up the ends of my candles and then collect old/used candles at the thrift store) – only use scented candles if you want a lighter version of that scent in your candleA beautiful, unique piece of pottery to hold your candle (I found a beautiful handmade dish at the thrift store!)Large can (ex: coffee can – HAS TO BE METAL)Large Pot that the coffee Can will fit in (the coffee can will hold the melted wax, the pot will hold boiling water that will melt the wax while the coffee can is in it)Optional: essential oils or scented wax melts and 4 crayons in your favourite coloursPlease check the video link below for 2 important steps to do before the night of the workshop!Video Link: https://vimeo.com/509115565/a2ba0f5d6fRegistration Deadline: Wednesday, March 10A confirmation email with the Zoom link will be sent to you upon registration.For registration information, please contact Cristina Lee at cristina.lee@salvationarmy.ca
